Xiamen University ( China ) Scholarship 2011



1.Introduction
The University offers scholarships for excellent applicants The recipients will have their tuition fees covered, up to a maximum of 3 years for a PhD, 2 -3 years for a Master degree and 4-5 years for a Bachelor degree. The recipients' academic performance will be assessed each year and only those achieving the required standard will have their scholarship renewed for the following year.

2. Scholarship availability:
About 25 in total including undergraduates, masters and doctors

3. Eligibility
1). Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health.
2). Educational background and age limits:
Applicants for undergraduate studies must hold a high school diploma and not be older than 25.
Applicants for master's studies must hold a bachelor's degree and not be older than 40.
Applicants for doctoral studies must hold a master's degree and not be older than 45.

4. Application time: from Feb. 15, 2011 to May 15, 2011

5. Application process
Applicants are eligible for scholarship application only after they are admitted to the undergraduate, master's and doctoral programmes in the university. 6. Approval and notification
1. A panel of experts will be responsible for the scholarship candidates' selection. Exceptional applicants will be selected as awardees according to their application materials, supervisor's opinions and so on.
2. The final list of awardees will be released on our website before the end of June, so please pay attention to the update of our website.

FULBRIGHT - COMMUNITY COLLEGE INITIATIVE PROGRAM

This international educational exchange program enables individuals to study at a community college in the United States to develop professional skills. 
Eligible fields are Business Management and Administration; Tourism and Hospitality Management; Health Professions, including Nursing; Media; Information Technology; Agriculture; and Engineering Science

ELIGIBILITY
To apply to the program, candidates must:

  • Have completed a secondary school education; D1, D2, D3 and S1
  • Preference will be given to High School Diploma
  • Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree are eligible if they are applying in a field different from the field of their degree and have relevant work experience in the field for which they are applying
  • Applicants with MA or PhD degrees are noteligible to participate. 
  • Have relevant work experience in the field in which they are applying;
  • Have English language skills that provide a basis for enrolling in academic coursework;
  • Submit a complete application;
  • Minimum Institutional TOEFL score 500 or TOEIC score 650 atau IELTS 5.0 (only scores less than 2 years old are valid).
U.S. PROGRAM

The Community College Summit Initiative Program will provide funding for round-trip airfare to the U.S.; a living allowance during English language, academic, and practical training program components; tuition costs; health insurance; and cultural enhancement activities.  Students will be hosted in groups by community colleges competitively selected to participate in the program. Students are required to return home at the end of their program and may not transfer to a four-year U.S. academic institution.

Minamas - Yayasan Sime Darby Undergraduate Scholarship Programme (Local)

This undergraduate scholarship offer is open to Public (external candidates)

Minimum Requirements

  • Indonesian citizen
  • Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif (IPK) ≥ 3.00 (on scale 4.00). 
  • Currently enrolled in the recommended field of study stated below
  • Candidates has finished at least 3 (three) semesters (proven by IPK result)
  • Possess good personalities, in good health condition and free from any drug substances addiction
  • Currently not receiving scholarships from any institution or willing to release it upon acceptance
  • Non academic achievements (i.e. in sports, science, or others) and involvements in extra- curricular activities or other organizations is an added value.
  • Willing to follow and obey to the whole process and procedure of the scholarship 

Service Bond Period

  • On completion of their studies, scholars will be required to serve Sime Darby Group of Companies for 2 to 4 years, depending on the duration and value of the award

  • Business and Law: Accounting, Management, and Law
  • Engineering and Technology: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering.
  • Agriculture-related: Agricultural Study, Agriculture Engineering, Agribusiness, and Forestry.
  • Science: Biology

UNESCO/Republic of Korea Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme

In line with the strategy and objectives approved in 34 C/5 for UNESCO’s Fellowship Programme in application of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by UNESCO and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in 2010, the Government of the Republic of Korea is offering thirty (30) fellowships of no more than two months’ duration. The medium of instruction is English. 

Aimed at enhancing human resources and national capacity-building in least developed countries (LDCs) in Africa, Asia and the Pacific Regions, these fellowships will enable candidates to conduct research work or participate in a training course in the Republic of Korea. Given that UNESCO and the Government of the Republic of Korea grant priority to gender equality, special attention will be given to women's candidatures. English is the medium of instruction.


FIELD OF STUDY: EDUCATION 

Course Title:

• Teacher Training in Basic Education
• Use of ICT for Education (or e-Learning); and
• Leadership in Global Education

The field of study is aligned with UNESCO’s objectives and programme priorities approved in 34 C/5 and in accordance with the decision made by the Executive Board (i.e. 161 EX/Decision 3.6.3 and 165 EX/Decision 8.6).

DURATION

23 June 2011 - 22 August 2011 (61 days) 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED 

UNESCO will solicit applications from least developed countries (LDCs) in Africa and Asia and the Pacific regions (see Annex I of the announcement letter).

A. Candidatures must comply with the following criteria:

a) Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree
b) Candidates must be proficient in English
c) Candidates must not be more than 50 years of age
d) Candidates must be in good health, both mentally and physically
e) Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years career in the field of Education with practical experience in the specific areas, namely: teaching/schooling, educational policy-making, development of curriculum (i.e., educational material, course of study, etc.)
 


B. All applications must be endorsed by the National Commission for UNESCO of invited Member States and must be made on a UNESCO fellowship application form 

C. The implementing agency in the Republic of Korea will be the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU).

D. The following documents must be attached to the application form in duplicate:

a) Photocopies of diplomas and school-certified transcript of academic records;
b) Certificate of English Language Proficiency by an official authority (if English is not the medium of instruction in the home country); and
c) Two photographs

E. Each invited Member State will be requested to nominate (not more than) two (2) candidates.

F. National Commissions of invited Member States are requested to submit the applications /candidatures along with ALL supporting documentation. Files which are incomplete or received after the deadline for submission of applications/candidatures, or do not fulfill the above-mentioned requirements, will not be taken into consideration.

G. UNESCO will submit the pre-selected applications to KOICA and APCEIU for final selection with copy to the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Korea to UNESCO. It is understood that KOICA will cooperate with APCEIU in the evaluation and approval of these files during the final selection.

SELECTION OF BENEFICIARIES 

1. The final selection of beneficiaries lies with KOICA and APCEIU.

2. Candidates not informed of their selection by 25 April 2011 should consider that the donor Government has not approved their applications.

FACILITIES OFFERED BY THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA

1. Beneficiaries of these fellowships will be exempt from tuition fees for the duration of study/training programme.

2. Fellows will undertake studies/training under the supervision of an advisor or a study director designated by the host institution.

3. The donor Government will pay stipends to beneficiaries on a monthly basis, in local currency. The stipends are intended to cover the cost towards living expenses such as accommodation, meals, pocket expenses, and incidentals.

4. The donor will determine the stipend amount to be granted to beneficiaries.

5. The donor Government will offer the health insurance.

FACILITIES OFFERED BY UNESCO

1. UNESCO will cover the cost of airfare to and from Seoul and a one-time travel allowance amounting to US $200 per beneficiary.

OTHER CONDITIONS 

1. No provision to finance or lodge beneficiary’s’ family members can be made.

2. A comprehensive final report, co-signed by beneficiaries’ advisors or study/training directors should be communicated to UNESCO with copy to KOICA and APCEIU not later than one (1) month after completion of training.
